Candace Salmon joined the CNSC in 2024 as Commission Registrar. Originally from New Brunswick, Candace is a lawyer and brings her extensive experience and education to the CNSC.

As of January 1, 2022, what was previously known as the Commission Secretariat and Secretary became the Commission Registry and Registrar.

As Commission Registrar, Candace plays a vital role that encompasses several key responsibilities. She is responsible for the management and administration of the Commission Registry, which serves as the central hub for all of the Commission's operations as a quasi-judicial tribunal and court of record. She also provides advice to the Commission on current legal standards in administrative decision making and procedural fairness.

Expertise and education

Candace holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Laws from York University. She is a member in good standing of the Law Society of New Brunswick. She also holds a graduate diploma in Justice System Administration from York University, where she focused her research on access to justice in Canada.

Candace has experience serving as a member of both provincial and federal tribunals. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals, and volunteers to organize and deliver continuing legal education sessions for tribunal members and staff.
