AR Geotechnical Engineering Ltd. is a Canadian consulting firm that provides geotechnical, environmental and material engineering services for South/Central Alberta and Saskatchewan. AR Geotechnical Engineering Ltd. holds a licence that authorizes it to possess, transfer, use and store portable nuclear gauge devices.

The order, issued July 07, 2011, requires the company to place all nuclear substances/devices into secure storage until it can demonstrate, to the CNSC’s satisfaction, that a radiation protection program has been fully implemented, that workers and managers have received adequate training on their radiation protection program, and that all items of non-compliance observed in CNSC inspection index 252776 have been addressed.

The order was issued as a result of observations made during a compliance inspection that took place from July 5 to July 7. This inspection included such non-compliances as doses to workers not being ascertained, shipping dangerous goods without a transport document and not meeting the commitments documented within the company’s safety program.
