Information Update - Point Lepreau Generation Station

CNSC would like to clarify facts in response to recent media reports regarding the malfunction of safety doors at the Point Lepreau Generating Station.
CNSC site staff were made aware of the issue and immediately confirmed that manual operation of the safety doors was available at all times. This event was neither a nuclear nor an occupational health and safety issue.
Given that this event has no safety significance, there was no regulatory requirement to report the safety door issue to CNSC Management.
