Small spill of heavy water at Point Lepreau

On December 13, New Brunswick Power Nuclear (NBPN) reported to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) a small spill of heavy water of 4 to 6 litres in the reactor building at Point Lepreau. All precautions were taken by New Brunswick Power to protect workers.

The spill did not result in any risk to the public, the environment or the workers. CNSC site staff is currently conducting follow-up activities and will provide a status update at the regularly scheduled December 15, 2011 public Commission meeting.
