Providers of on-the-job training for exposure device operators
An on-the-job training (OJT) program is essential for developing the skills and abilities of a certified exposure device operator (EDO). Training should be tailored to the needs and learning characteristics of the trainee and the gamma radiography industry. It must also include the development of a strong culture for safety and security.
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) expects on-the-job training facilities to:
- maintain a detailed training record for each trainee of the successful completion of the training for the EDO OJT program as described in the CSA Group's document CSA PCP-09, Certified Exposure Device Operator Personnel Certification Guide
- provide to each successful trainee a completed CNSC EDO On-the-Job Training Attestation Form (FORM-EDO-I-OJT), attesting to the trainee's successful completion of OJT under the direct supervision of experienced certified EDOs authorized by the licensee
- provide to each trainee a copy of each completed EDO practical examination administered to them by an authorized examiner (see a sample EDO practical examination from CSA PCP-09)
