Uranium

Uranium is a naturally occurring radioactive element used for fuel in nuclear power reactors. Canada is the world's largest uranium producer, accounting for 30% of global production, of which 80% is exported.

Uranium mines provide raw ore which is processed at a milling facility to recover the uranium concentrate. The uranium concentrate is then processed further to create fuel for nuclear power reactors. All uranium mines and mills in Canada are regulated and licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for the protection of Canadians and the environment.
